Privacy Policy

Fryndo is a dating app, which means the data it holds is personal by definition. This policy says exactly what is collected, what is done with it, who else sees it, and how to make it go away.

01Who we are

Fryndo (“we”, “us”) operates the Fryndo mobile application and this website. We decide what data is collected and why, which under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 makes us the Data Fiduciary — and the Data Controller under the GDPR where that applies.

Contact: privacy@fryndo.com. Postal address: Kolkata, West Bengal, India. Privacy questions go to that address and are answered by a person, not a form.

02What we collect

Everything below is either given by you during onboarding, produced by using the app, or needed to deliver a message to your phone. We do not buy data about you from anyone and we do not scrape your contacts.

DataWhere it comes fromWhy we have it
Phone numberYou, at sign-upIt is your login, and it is how we keep one account per person. Never shown to other users.
Email addressGoogle Sign-In, if you use itIdentifies the account when you sign in with Google. Never shown to other users.
Profile details — name, date of birth, gender, photos, bio, education, profession, height, languages, zodiac, love language, dreamsYou, during the eight onboarding stepsThis is your profile. Other users see it; that is the point of it.
Interests, hobbies, favourites, lifestyle answers, relationship goalYou, during onboardingThese are the inputs to the compatibility score.
Approximate locationYour device, with permissionRanks Discover by distance and enforces your radius. Other users only ever see a rounded distance, never coordinates.
Preferences — age range, distance radius, who you are looking forYouFilters the feed before it is ever built.
Likes, passes, matches, friend requests, blocksUsing the appThey are the product. Blocks in particular must persist, or blocking would not work.
Messages, voice notes and shared mediaYou and your matchesDelivered to the person you sent them to and stored so the thread is still there tomorrow.
Call records — who called whom, when, for how longUsing the appShown in the thread as a call log. The audio and video themselves are never recorded.
Device session — device id and name, platform, IP address, user agent, push tokenYour device at loginKeeps you signed in, lets you see and revoke your sessions, and delivers notifications.
Reports you file or that name youYou or another userSafety. A report is reviewed by a person before any action is taken.

No contact list, no call log from your phone, no SMS inbox, no advertising identifier, no third-party trackers inside the app. The app ships without an advertising SDK, so there is nothing to opt out of.

03How we use it

  • Matching. Interests, personality, lifestyle, goals, distance and age preference are combined into a compatibility score and used to rank your Discover feed.
  • Running the service. Signing you in, showing your profile to the people it is meant for, delivering messages, placing calls, sending notifications you have switched on.
  • Safety and integrity. Detecting fake accounts, reviewing reports, enforcing blocks, and keeping a removed account from simply coming back.
  • Support. Answering you when you write in, which sometimes means looking at your account.
  • Legal obligations. Responding to a valid legal order, and keeping the payment records tax law requires.

We do not sell personal data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use your messages to train models.

05Who else sees it

Other users see your profile — photos, name, age, bio, interests, lifestyle answers, approximate distance and whether you are verified. They never see your phone number, your email address or your coordinates.

Behind the app, a small set of processors handle specific jobs under contract, and may only use the data for the job we hired them for:

ProcessorWhat they handleWhere
SMS providerDelivering your one-time login codeIndia
Google FirebaseGoogle Sign-In and push notificationsEU / US
Object storage & CDNStoring and serving your photos and shared mediaIndia
LiveKitCarrying audio and video calls in real time. Nothing is recordedRegional edge
Cloud hostingRunning the API and the databasesIndia

We will also disclose data where the law genuinely requires it — a valid court order, or a credible threat to someone’s life. We do not hand over accounts on an informal request.

06How long we keep it

  • While your account exists: your profile, matches and messages stay, because removing them would break the app you are using.
  • When you ask to delete: the account closes immediately — signed out everywhere, profile hidden, no longer reachable by anyone — and the data behind it is erased 30 days later. Profile, photos, interests, likes, matches, conversations, messages, friend requests, notifications and device sessions all go, and the phone number is unlinked so it is free to use again.
  • Why the 30 days: so a deletion made by mistake, in anger, or by someone who briefly had your phone can still be reversed. Nobody can see the account in that window, and you can end it early or cancel it by writing to us.
  • Backups: encrypted restore points roll off on a 30-day cycle after the erasure. Nothing is read out of them, and after that window no copy remains.
  • Safety reports:kept after deletion, without your profile attached. Erasing them would destroy the reporting user’s own record of what happened to them.
  • Payment records: kept for the period tax law prescribes. They contain a transaction, not your dating activity.

07Your rights

  • Access — ask for a copy of what we hold about you.
  • Correction — most of it you can edit yourself in the app; write to us for the rest.
  • Erasure — delete the account from the app or from this website, with no reason required. It closes at once and is erased 30 days later.
  • Portability — ask for your profile and messages in a machine-readable file.
  • Withdraw consent — turn off location or notifications in your device settings at any time; the app keeps working with less precision.
  • Complain — to us first, and to the Data Protection Board of India (or your local supervisory authority) if we do not resolve it.

You never need our permission or our help to leave. Delete your account here with the phone number on it, or from Settings inside the app. Both close the account on the spot and erase it 30 days later — and either way you get a reference, so support can find the request if you change your mind inside that window.

08How it is protected

Traffic runs over TLS. Sessions are signed tokens bound to a device, so you can revoke one phone without touching the others, and every session is invalidated the moment an account is deleted. One-time codes are stored hashed with a short expiry and a hard attempt limit. Photos live in storage separate from the database. Access to production data is limited to the engineers who need it, and support only ever sees an account when you have asked us to look at it. No system is perfect; if a breach ever affects you we will tell you and the regulator, promptly and in plain language.

09Age limit

Fryndo is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly allow anyone younger, we ask for a date of birth during onboarding, and an account found to belong to a minor is removed without notice and without a refund. If you believe a minor is using Fryndo, write to safety@fryndo.com and we will act the same day.

10Changes to this policy

When something material changes we update the date at the top and notify you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Fryndo after that means the new version applies; if you would rather not, deletion is one screen away and closes the account immediately.

Exercising a right takes one email

Access, correction, portability, withdrawal of consent or erasure — write to privacy@fryndo.com from the address or number on the account and we will answer within 30 days. For deletion you do not need to wait for us at all — do it yourself here.
